Genius Planning's affiliate program

Our affiliate program is managed by ClickBank. ClickBank is the pioneer in selling digital products worldwide through the leverage of over 100,000 affiliates. They provide a highly secure, scalable, and fraud resistant environment for e-commerce.

STEP 1: Sign up for a ClickBank account

The first thing you need to do is to sign up for a ClickBank account. This information is needed so that ClickBank can send you payments. It's very simple and it's free.

You will be asked for a "nickname". The nickname you choose will be the "ClickBank ID" for your account. It will be visible to your client every time you sell one of their (including Genius Planning's) products, and will appear on the memo line when they send you a check. Keep in mind that your nickname cannot be changed once your account has been opened.

You will then receive a confirmation e-mail with your nickname you chose to access your account.

STEP 2: Create your link (called "hoplink")

When you promote you product, you will send your clients to our sales page. In order for ClickBank to know that YOU sent the visitor to our page so that you get be paid, you must leave a trace. This trace will be left thanks to the link you use in your promotional material. Use the following code in your promotion to send your client to our sales page so that ClickBank creates a unique URL (address) for you.

 

 

Where YOURNICKNAME is the nickname you just chose when signing in with ClickBank and YOURTEXT is the label of your link (people won't see the code behind your link but will see YOURTEXT).

STEP 3: Promote the material

There are many ways to promote online products. Here are some of the most popular ones:

• Articles

• Blogs

• Forums

• Pay per click

• Classified

• Groups

• Newspapers

• E-mail campaigns

• Banners

• Adsense

Here are promotional tools you can use within each one of these categories to help you promote our product.

Articles

Do your own review of our product and post them on article directories. Make it professional with good English in order not to be rejected (60% are rejected). A typical article is 300 to 500 words long. Make many versions of the same article and post each one of them on different directories. The rule is simple: one unique content article per directory. This takes more time but assures you the best ranking.

Search engines like Google are going to penalize the directories for duplicate content and not list your article if you submit the very same material to different directories. If you want your article to be read, don't submit it to more than one directory. So don't simply copy and paste because you're wasting your time.

At the bottom of your articles, simply add your "affiliate link" (hoplink above) to send visitors to our sales page. This is what we call a "resource box". In order to post your article, you must first register.

There are hundreds of directories out there and many come and go, so they're not worth all the same. You can search in your favourite search engine under "Article directories". Some of the most popular ones are the following:

Blogs

Create your own Blog (short form for "Web log") on popular Blogger.com site and add your own appreciation, articles and comments about the book. Don't forget to put your "affiliate link" at the end of your post. Just posting a few controversial comments and adding your affiliate link is the best way to promote a product and make people respond to your comment and click on your link.

When you're done with your blog, go to Pingomatic.com and follow the instructions to quickly index your blog on major search engines.

You can also list your Internet site or blog on Dmoz.org. Most search engines use Dmoz data base to list certain selection criteria. This also increases your chances to be quickly indexed on various search engines instead of waiting for them to find you.

To maximize your blog traffic, I suggest you to index your blog on various directories and create partnerships with other bloggers and/or Internet sites. Partnerships can take the form of link exchange. For example, you create a "partners" section on your main page and list all your partners that have put your link on their main page. This brings you a constant flow of significant traffic.

Forums

Post coherent comments on various discussion forums on a regular basis. Don't forget to add you "affiliate link" as your signature.

It's important not to be too aggressive in your approach. Choose forums which are related to your subject and don't do direct advertising. Be subtle. For example, you can suggest people to read our book because you heard a lot of good things about it! If you advertise, you could be banned from the forum and you could have problems with your Internet Service Provider (ISP) among other things ... Don?t fool around ... be serious.

There are so many out there, I suggest you to search for "forum directory" in your favourite search engine and find the "finance" or "financial services" or "insurance" or "business" category.

Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising

Use PPC advertising to promote the package. The most popular PPC services are Google AdWords and Yahoo. Just follow the instructions.

For Google AdWords, the first line is limited to 25 characters. The other three lines are limited to 35 characters each.

This can take the form of an article (as seen above) at the end of which you put your affiliate link under "Learn more" kind of text. This method is less aggressive and conversion rates tend to be higher than sending people directly to a sales pitch. You can also put some price information in your PPC ad to avoid useless clicks from people trying to look for something free ...

Classifieds

You can post classifieds on specialized sites. Make sure that you choose the right category in order for your ad to be quickly spotted by potential customers. Click here and find your favourite spots to post free ads.

Groups

You can create your own discussion groups on the book. You can also register to existing groups who could be interested in the book. Talk about the book, exchange opinions and arguments. Don't forget to put your "affiliate link".

The two largest group sites are Google and Yahoo

Newspapers

Click here and choose a few newspapers to start with. Post an ad with your affiliate link in each newspaper for a 3-5 week period. You're going to be surprised by the results!

If you are more on a shoestring budget, start with only one or two newspapers and stick with them! Don't jump from one to another. You must show constancy to achieve interesting results.

e-mail campaigns

This is probably the most powerful technique but you have to be "patient". It is sometimes said that people need up to seven communications in order to buy from a promoter. You should send at least five e-mails to your members about this new financial planning approach in order to get the best results.

STEP 4: Track your campaign

As an affiliate, the tracking code enhancement provides the power to track and manage your campaigns by tying a specific sale back to the promotion that initiated it. The tracking code is implemented throughout the ClickBank system as "TID" or "tid". The format of the hoplink URL with a tracking code is located below.

http:// YOURNICKNAME.genius.hop.clickbank.net?tid=XXXXXXXX

The tracking code, which is "XXXXXXXX" in the example above, has specific implementation requirements you will need to adhere to. The code can be 8 characters long, containing alpha and numeric characters only. Any tracking code longer than 8 characters will be truncated. Any tracking code containing characters other than alpha or numeric values will have the entire tracking code removed from the hoplink and order process and, the TID will not show in the transaction report. Tracking codes received with upper and lower case characters will be set to all uppercase.
