Dany Provost is president of DELTA Actuarial Services, an innovative consulting firm he founded in 2000. He has a degree in actuarial science (Laval University) as well as another degree in music (Concordia University). He also studied at the graduate level in management (Laval University). He is currently completing his Master's degree in taxation at Sherbrooke University.
Being a pension plan consultant and an expert in financial algorithms, he has developed a range of very sophisticated calculation tools for the industry. Among other things, he developed the retirement planning software used by Desjardins, the largest financial cooperative group in Canada with nearly 6 million members and clients.
His clients are mainly professional advisors and financial institutions who require his expertise. He also acts an an expert witness in financial planning cases.
Being a CFA charterholder (Chartered Financial Analyst), he teaches financial planning at the college level and for the IQPF (Quebec Institute for Financial Planning), the organization responsible for granting the Financial Planner - the legal title - diplomas in Canada. He is also a columnist and a regular contributor to a variety of Canadian newspapers, magazines, radio and TV programs.
In 2005, he wrote the best-selling Canadian paperback book ArrĂȘtez de planifier votre retraite, planifiez votre plaisir which is the basis for Nonsense in Traditional Retirement Planning: a New Perspective.
Having a perfect-pitch ear, he plays many instruments, mainly keyboards. For nearly two decades, he played in various bands, singing and impersonating his favourite performers. In 1991, he wrote the music for a local singer's album.
Also a sports lover, his interests touch on a variety of fields. He loves humour and laughing - especially at himself!
However, his major passion is personal development.
A "Philosophus" in the Order of Imhotep, and a member of ultra high IQ societies such as GIGA, Sigma V, Mega and Omega, this father of four is fond of puzzles and likes thinking outside the box.
